New "Sunday Trailways" event to launch summer schedule

On June 24, we kick off a loaded summer events schedule with our new "Sunday Trailways" outing. Join us on bike or on foot for four miles of fun & fitness on the Fanno Creek Trail. We'll celebrate the grand opening of a newly completed trail segment with music, fitness and activities at points along the trail.

Sunday Trailways is the first of 12 free summer events on our schedule, highlighted by our signature event, Party in the Park (July 28) and our Summer Celebration concert (Aug. 11).

At the Oregon Sports Awards earlier this month, longtime Beaverton High School swim coach Rod Harman was honored with the Game-Changer Award.

Harman, the founder of the Tualatin Hills Swim Club, is the man for whom THPRD's Harman Swim Center was named when it opened in 1977. We congratulate him on his latest achievement.

Sunset Swim Center closure looms

Thanks to our 2008 voter-approved bond measure, Sunset Swim Center will soon receive structural improvements that make it safer in the event of an earthquake.

In addition, Sunset’s parking lot will be upgraded to a pervious concrete surface and other capital improvements will be made.

Completing these projects requires us to temporarily close the facility, starting March 10.  Reopening is scheduled for June 4.
